~~Erica is a very happy little girl who loves playing with the two resident dogs in her foster home. She has also bonded very quickly with a new foster sister as well. She has been house broken since day one with just a couple of accidents.  She does not bark to go out to potty but just goes and stands by the door (unless there is a squirrel to chase); she will bark to come back in the house. She does love to chew on paper and is persistent about getting it. Her foster family says that Erica is a talker rather than a barker. When she barks, it is with a purpose as if she wants to tell you something. She is also mastering the stairs. While she is comfortable wearing a collar she still freezes when the leash is attached to go for a walk. That skill is still a work in progress. Her crate is her “go to” place when she wants to rest, hang out and sleep. She will happily leave the crate when she is ready to explore.
Since coming into foster care, she has become more comfortable around people. She still typically stays at arm’s length when you pet her but will run to greet you and wag her tail. She likes to be petted and will occasionally jump up on your legs. She doesn't mind if you pick her up and pet her; she will relax and enjoy it; but, she does not initiate that kind of contact herself yet.
Erica needs a family that will be committed to working with her on getting over her shyness and helping her to be comfortable with a leash. She needs a secure, physically fenced yard, especially since she will not walk on a leash yet. She also needs a companion dog to be her buddy and to play with.
If you feel that you have the patience to work with Erica on these issues then complete an adoption application at http://www.luckystarcavalierrescue.org/forms/ and email Mary Coyne at mary401339@aol.com to let her know of your interest.
