October 6, 2012 - update

Cara has lost a total of about 7 lbs since she came to Lucky Star.  She now weighs 20 lbs and is looking quite svelt.  She does love to eat so her foster mom must watch to keep her out of the other dogs' bowls.  She's a lovely girl.  

June 21, 2012 - update

Cara's foster mom found out that Cara loves to swim and has been burning off some of that extra weight doing laps with her foster mom.  We've added some photos of Cara in the pool with her swim vest.  Too cute!

Cara and her partner Caesar came from an owner/breeder as the result of a divorce.  They were in need of veterinary care.  It was obvious that Cara did not have regular exercise.  She was very over weight when rescued and full of ticks.  She has already lost 4 lbs in a few short weeks  with daily walks and a healthy diet. Cara was used for breeding and also needed to be spayed and needed many teeth extracted because of neglected dental care.  

Cara is a super friendly, lovable girl who just loves her person.  She wants attention and love.  Cara is nervous around small children but older children who are respectful of dogs would be considered.  She will also need to continue a healthy diet and exercise program.  She still needs to lose a few more pounds.  Cara has a low grade heart murmur which does not require medication at this time.  

This girl does not appear to be almost 8 years old.  She is very lovable and would enjoy a home where someone is there to include her, love her and give her the attention she deserves and desires.
