Cavalier King Charles Spaniel : : Female Interested in adopting?
Lainey is a delightful little girl who will make a wonderful addition to a new home. She is not quite 2 years old and was released from a commercial breeding facility due to a grade 5 heart murmur. She had a heart condition called PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus). This is a birth defect where a blood vessel fails to close after birth and allows blood to flow between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. Thankfully this condition is fully treatable with surgery. Within two weeks of arriving in rescue, Lainey underwent this life saving surgery. She had 4 weeks of strict rest while she healed from this procedure and she recently had her 2 month follow up with a cardiologist. The doctor has given her a clean bill of health and her heart if fully repaired. She has no long term damage to her heart and she should live a normal life without any further issue. Lainey is a very petite little lady weighing only 11 lbs. She is an adorable little peanut and has an endearing personality. She is very smart and learns routines quickly. Lainey is a big fan of cuddling with other dogs. Any time one of her foster siblings is in a dog bed, Lainey will curl right up next to them, or even on top of them! Lainey also seeks affection from people and loves to snuggle with her foster mom, too. She enjoys playing with toys and has a strong prey drive. She loves to chase anything that flies including butterflies, flies, moths, birds and bees. She is fast as the wind when she runs in the yard and is very agile. When chasing insects she leaps and twirls in the air as she tries to catch them and can even walk on her hind legs! With as smart as she is and how treat motivated she is, she would thrive in some sort of training or agility class. Lainey is housebroken but should still be taken outside every few hours as she will likely not signal her need to go out. She sleeps in a crate at night in her foster home in her foster mom’s bedroom, but she would also be very happy to sleep in the big bed with her forever family as well. Lainey is very adaptable, friendly, playful and loving. She will be a wonderful addition to just about any home. She will require a fenced in yard and low alone hours and at least one other friendly dog as a companion. If you think you may be a fit for Lainey to join your family, and you live within 3 hours of central CT, please fill out an application. Lainey's adoption is pending.
