Lilly is about three years old, a bundle of sweet joy, devotion, alert dog, cuddle bug and potential agility course winner wrapped up in a 14 lb Ruby body. She was released to Lucky Star from a backyard breeder with other dogs having varying behavioral issues. Lilly’s issue is her reactive barking.  Her fosters are currently working on her barking with a vibrating bark collar. She has responded very well and also to voice command for correction. Correction and reinforcement from a family who is willing to work with her daily will provide the best results, in addition to a trainer.    A home without another barking dog would be best so it doesn’t encourage her to bark.  She likes kids but gets overwhelmed when there are more than two.  She becomes possessive with there are many children in the picture so a home with teenagers or none would be best.

Lilly has been spayed, is microchipped, up to date on all of her shots and is on heartworm protection and flea/tick protection. If you’re looking for a true Velcro dog you will never be alone with Lilly in the house. She loves to lie on her person (or people) and prefers that you stay put and don't move but when you do she will be right behind you. She is house trained using a dog door. If you don’t have a dog door she will need to be house trained on whatever system you use. She is very smart but like all dogs needs consistent reinforcement of behavior. She prefers to sleep in bed with you and is a good bed mate. She eats well and enjoys most treats. She is eager to go wherever you are going, likes to go on walks but prefers that the weather not be too hot or cold. She is ball obsessed and enjoys fetching and bringing it back. She gets along with other dogs and cats but can be heard to make a warning growl if someone wants her food and she is not done. Once she's finished and walks away she doesn't care who eats out of her bowl. She is not completely leash trained but follows the other dogs in the group and wants to be up front with whoever she sees as the leader. With proper training Lilly will become a leisurely walker. She slows down after about a half mile. Lilly checked out with no heart or eye issues common to Cavaliers. She does have mild luxating patellas with no symptoms and based on how fast she runs her knees do not slow her down. Lilly needs a securely fenced yard and a consistent routine for leaving the house. She has always come back when called but she wants to be with her people and that drives her behavior.

Lilly will do best in a home where someone is home most of the time, she can get exercise via walking or playing ball and has experience with reactive barking dogs.  An experienced dog owner will enjoy her intelligence, playfulness and devotion. Her fosters take her on a walk once a day and play ball with her in the yard another time in the day. She enjoys going to dog parks with small dogs but really wants to play ball. 

Lilly is being fostered in Lansing, Michigan.  We do not ship dogs.
