Teddy is a 9 month old active Blenheim puppy who was released to Lucky Star by his first home that included teenagers, a toddler and 10 month old baby. He was used to running loose and did not get the consistent training that all puppies need.

He has made progress in his foster home in an environment where he has been learning manners and getting plenty of attention. At first he did not sleep through the night and did not know limits for behavior. He needed time to adjust to his 2 dog playmates, adult dogs who did not appreciate his desire to play and he did not respond to their warnings. Foster parents have needed to referee. Teddy is high energy even for a puppy. His foster parents have been providing lots of exercise for him, such as retrieving a ball, which he loves to do for long sessions. They also have worked on learning to walk on a leash for the first time. He has made    good progress walking with a harness but will need more training.

He wants constant attention between short naps. Fortunately snuggling is a favorite activity which provides some calm down time. His puppy behavior includes chewing on towels, sheets and blankets in addition to appropriate toys. He is learning what is OK and what is not, but more work will be needed.

Teddy came to us with a “cherry eye” on his right eye which was surgically repaired successfully. He was also neutered during that surgery. He is up to date on vaccinations as well as heart worm and flea protection. A previous vet heard a soft heart murmur at 8 weeks which is now not heard. He also had loss of hair on the left side of his snout and some in the middle of his back. A skin scrape was negative and those have now cleared up with Nexgard.

Teddy is a fun dog and needs a home where he will get lots of attention and positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior. He would benefit from puppy classes. He needs time to get to know other dogs and is fearful at first. A home with another dog(s) is preferred so that he has companions to learn from. He absolutely must have a fully physically fenced yard to provide limits, safety and the ability to get lots of exercise.

Teddy is a smart puppy with great potential to be a great dog! He has learned some commands such as sit, lay down, come and fetch. He needs a home where training will continue.
