~~Seven year old Zach was in a loving home for 5 years when his adoptive Mom passed away.  Zach has settled into his new life in his foster home but we would love for him to have a new forever home. Zach does not seek out petting and being in a lap. He shys away from hands. He is a rather independent boy who prefers the company of the other dogs in his foster home. He especially likes the female cavaliers. In the morning he will rush outside to go potty and then come back up on the stairs to wait for the girls. He almost seems to be counting them as they go down the back steps. He is very watchful over them. Zach would love a home with a female companion cavalier.
While Zach is not a snuggler he surprised his foster Mom several weeks ago by jumping into the big bed and has slept there ever since. He recently changed his spot in the bed to sleep closer to her. Zach loves meal time and will put his paws on his foster Mom’s back side while she is preparing the meal as if to say “hurry up.” He also gives quite the performance while she is getting ready in the morning for work. He keeps up a vocal conversation and she just knows he is telling her to hurry up because he is hungry.
Zach is very reliably house trained and walks well on a leash. He does not like change and can be fearful of new experiences. For instance, he was upset the first time a harness was put on him over his head. He will do best in a home with a very consistent and quieter routine. He is up to date on all of his vet care, neutered, and recently had a dental. Zach needs a physically fenced yard and preferably a female companion dog. He is being fostered near Dayton, Oh.
