Livi is a wonderful 18-month-old girl that came to us from a commercial breeder who was downsizing.  She is happy, healthy and has a zest for life. She is adjusting well to life in a home so far. Livi loves to play with toys as well as the other dogs in the household.  She is also very affectionate with women and seeks attention regularly. She attaches quickly to the female in the household and is very snuggly. She wants to be in her foster mom’s lap as soon as she sits on the couch and will try to get snuggled as close as possible to her foster mom. However, Livi is fearful of men and we are successfully working through that fear.  When a man enters the room, she barks from fear and anxiety.  There is absolutely no aggression in this behavior, and it is all based in fear.  In her foster home, there are 2 young men in their 20’s and Livi has adjusted well to them but still panics sometimes if they startle her.  The solution to easing her fear is for the man to sit down on the floor and ignore her.  She will immediately run over and sniff him and give him some kisses on his hands or arms as she sniffs.  She needs to process the smells and sights of the man while he is sitting down so he doesn’t look so big and without him looking at her or reaching out to her.  It only takes a few minutes and then she is ok.

Livi is a perfect balance of active and calm.  She will play with the other dogs and loves to run zoomies all over the back yard as well as entertain herself with toys.  She also is very content to nap a large portion of the day while her foster mom works from home.  She has done beautifully with house training and has learned to use the doggie door to go out when she needs to.  She is not a fan of the rain and that is currently the only time she will have an accident indoors.  She sleeps through the night in a crate in her foster mom’s bedroom and  will sleep a full 8 or more hours.  Being that Livi is young and learning about the world, she is also crated if her foster family is not home so she does not get into any mischief.  She is content and does not fuss during those times.

The ideal home for Livi has another dog that is willing to play and snuggle.  A quiet home without children would be ideal as the noises and comings and goings of children may be too stressful for her.  A man in the home would be ok as long as he understands that Livi will need time and patience to get used to him.

Livi is being fostered in Middletown, CT.  Please consider your location before applying as we do not ship dogs, put on planes or use commercial services.  Complete an application, then e-mail luckystarrescue@gmail.com of your interest.  Applicants must have a fully fenced yard and another dog to be considered.
