Tate is a 1year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix who was recently surrendered from a retiring breeder in Pennsylvania and is now experiencing the joys of life as a beloved companion. Since arriving in foster care, Tate has revealed himself to be an energetic, affectionate guy who loves nothing more than being around his family, cuddling on the couch, and giving gentle kisses.

He has a soft spot for treats. Frozen green beans and peanut butter are his favorites.

Tate is housebroken and has excellent indoor manners. He prefers to sleep in bed with his parents at night and is working on getting comfortable sleeping in a crate. He’s also learning to walk on a leash and is making good progress. With a little more practice and possibly some obedience classes, Tate is well on his way to becoming a confident walking buddy. Tate has met a few cats and did not get along well so we do not recommend homes with them.

He especially enjoys spending time outside, whether it’s chasing squirrels, running around the yard with his brother, or simply soaking up the sunshine on the deck. He loves meeting new people and new animals.

Tate would do best with other dogs in the home. He has done well with the foster parents 5-year-old and 14.5-year-old super senior dogs. While he loves attention from his foster dad, he’s perfectly fine sharing that attention with his second favorite person, his foster mom.

Tate is looking for a loving home where he can continue to blossom. He will make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a loyal, playful dog with a big heart and a gentle soul.

Tate’s coloring is rare and known as Merle.  His sister is also in our care and we are waiting for the results of DNA testing to find out if there is another breed mixed in. We suspect there is a mix.  We will update when we have the results in a couple of weeks.  He definitely has Cavalier in him. 

Tate has been neutered, examined, received vaccinations and there are no noted medical concerns.  He’s ready for a home.

Tate is being fostered in Cincinnati, OH.  We require a fenced yard and another canine companion in the home to be considered. No cats or young children. We do not ship dogs, put on planes or use commercial transport services.
