Hi, my name is Jody (aka Lilly) and I’m two years old. My birthday is 7/17/2023.  My foster family says I’m timid and shy but very sweet. I agree with that assessment. They also say that I prefer to ride in the stroller rather than walk on a leash. That’s also true but I might be more interested in walking once my stamina builds up. It’s hard being a shorty in a tall world! I’m trying hard to learn how to be a dog but some days it’s tough to know what to do. I follow the lead of the other dogs in my foster home and from them I learned how to ask to go outside when I have to potty. I feel so good about that. I would love be in a home that is on the quiet side so I can adjust slowly and learn to trust my new humans unconditionally. I like to sit with my people but not for a long time. I’m not standoffish just like my space. I sleep in a crate and often rest in there too. I like socks - especially my human’s socks - and a few toys and chewy bones. I’m not afraid of fireworks and storms and rarely feel the need to use my voice. When I do it’s to play a little chase. If I sound like a good companion for you let’s meet up.

Lilly is a very sweet dog, typical of a cavalier. She will blossom as she gets familiar and comfortable with her new family. Her sister is an attention hog and pushes Lilly out of the way a lot. Lilly defers to her. She is a little fussy with food but loves treats. She needs lots of TLC and patience to grow into her best self. She does like to sleep a lot and is a couch potato at heart. The best home setting for Lilly is a quiet home that will encourage her to play, being patient and allow her to come out of her shell. She likes dogs and cats and the best home would have another Cavalier in it.  She has not been tested with children whose sudden move might startle her.  She's still very skittish even after being in foster care for 2.5 months.

Lilly (Jody) is from a commercial breeding kennel.  She has been spayed.  Her teeth are pearly white.  She's had and exam and is up to date on vaccinations.  She requires a securely fenced yard and another canine companion.  She is being fostered in Lansing, MI.  Please be aware that we do not ship dogs or put them on planes and discourage long distant adoptions.  Consider her location before you apply.  If you have adopted a rescue from a breeding kennel in the past, you know that they need time and patience to adjust to being a spoiled pet which is our goal for all.  Please complete an application then contact luckystarrescue@gmail.com of your interest.
