Meet the Ashley and Lulu Duo
These adorable 5 year old sisters (littermates) were previously owned and needed to be rehomed. They get along with the other dogs but spend a lot of time snuggled together and like to lick each others' faces. Because they seem so attached we would like to see them stay together and are a very nice pair. Lulu is a 21 lb Ruby and Ashley who is a Black and Tan weighs less at 15.4 lbs. Staying together will be best for them as they have always been together, have great affection for each other, and it seems unfair to split them up.
They have been very happy in their foster home but tend to be anxious when taken somewhere in the car. They did not like being at the vet. As visitors have come to the foster home they have become increasingly friendly. They were recently spayed and Lulu had a dental and lost 6 teeth. Ashley did not need a dental. Both of the girls had patches of hair loss and skin irritation which was treated with antibiotics and allergy meds and have cleared up well. Their coats are shiny and soft and they seem to enjoy being combed and brushed. Lulu was overweight when she came and has lost 4lbs and could lose a couple more to be at a good weight for her size. They enjoy the yard and are getting exercise. They like to chase the fire flies in the evening. They will need to learn to walk on a leash.
As each day goes by they seem happier and more confident. They bark at times, ie when foster leaves or returns, but not excessively. You can see them trying to figure out if you are pleased with them. What is needed is an environment where they get lots of love and consistency, along with expectations of good behavior and positive reinforcement. Their enthusiasm and love for each other is very inspiring.
Other vet info includes neg heartworm test, labs good, negative fecals, no murmurs and patella’s OK. They were fully vaccinated and microchipped.
If you would like to adopt these girls and continue the happy life they have been experiencing in their foster home please fill out an application. They will require a fully physically fenced yard with entrance and exit directly to and from the house. Mature/ respectful children who have experience being around a dog will be considered. It would be best for them to be in a home where someone is home most of the time. They have been gradually adjusting to our dog savvy cat but it would be better for there to be no cats.
They are being fostered in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please complete an application, then contact Mary Coyne, email@example.com. Please be within a reasonable driving distance and prepared to drive to pick up the girls if approved. We do not ship dogs.
