Owen is a 5 yr old tricolor boy that was released from a breeding facility. He has blossomed in his foster home with their dogs and 2 children. He is playful and loves to chase the other dogs. He has overcome some of his shyness and will come up to you but then isn’t so sure about getting petted. When he wants to be petted, as you walk up to him he turns around and leaves but then lays down and allows you to rub his belly. He likes the 2 girls in the family and does let them pet him intermittently. It will take some time for him to gain confidence and be able to trust humans. He has made great progress. Owen loves being outside with his foster family and their dogs, enjoying his new freedom. 

A physically fenced yard that is directly accessible from the house is a must for him. The fosters have been working on walking on a leash. He does best walking with another dog and will follow that dog. He is good on car rides. He is learning about toys and when tossed to him he takes them to his crate. Not ready to fetch just yet! He needs a loving family to help him continue to adjust to being a happy family dog.  Owen needs another canine companion in his forever home.  

Owen was overweight when he arrived and has lost weight with a special diet and lots of exercise. He now weighs a perfect 22.lbs and has lost 6 lbs since he arrived. He is happy to take a rest in his crate on a soft blanket with the door open. He sleeps in the big bed. He gets along with the dogs in his foster home and shows no sign of aggression. A home with one or more dogs is a must for Owen and a securely fenced yard are musts for Owen.

Vet care for Owen has included his vaccinations, neutering and a dental. He did not need extractions.  No heart murmur was heard and his knees were normal on exam. He is on heartworm preventative.
