Lucy remains a wonderful little girl. She has been in foster care for almost a year now and will have another doggie birthday soon. She is now trusted to be left out of her crate when her foster family leaves the house and has not had an accident in many months. Lucy is doing well on her special food for her allergies and has not had any issues since she was started on it. The food is only about 25 dollars a month for a smaller cav like Lucy. She takes meds well. Lucy is still the queen bee and likes to sleep next to her foster mom or human foster sister, but she is getting more tolerant of the resident dogs as they have learned about her "status" on top. Lucy recently visited a warmer climate for a little vacation, and Lucy was much happier laying in the air conditioning or standing in the lake with her belly being cooled by the water than out in the heat and humidity. Lucy is due for a cardiology appointment at the end of August, but all seems to be going well in her treatments after a couple of medicine adjustments.

Lucy is doing well in her foster home and is feeling much better on her medications. She is definitely a mommy's girl but also likes to nap with her toddler.
We found out some new information about Lucy over the holidays. Lucy WILL BE the queen bee in any home, and will growl and fight with other females if they do not allow her to be. If there are any "mommy protectors" or alpha females in this home it would not work for Miss Lucy. If Lucy might be your Queen Bee, please email kimberly_olive@hotmail.com.

Lucy went to the Ohio State University cardiologist to evaluate her heart murmur. Lucy was found to have a grade 5 murmur. Lucy was also diagnosed with an arrhythmia. Lucy is not in congestive heart failure at this time, but it could happen at any time. All this being said, they want to try Lucy on Enalapril to see if it helps her at all. We should know more in a few weeks after the medication is given a chance to work. A murmur can be ranked a 1 through 6, 6 being the worst. See http://www.cavalierhealth.org/ for more information and also feel free to talk to your vet about this issue. Lucy is looking for a very dedicated, cavalier-savvy owner with a huge heart that is close to a board certified cardiologist. She will need to see a cardiologist every six months minimum. If you'd like to love Lucy for the time she has left and can provide for her medical needs, please email me at kimberly_olive@hotmail.com

Meet Lucy! Lucy is a tiny 11 pound, 5-6 year old female that is a retired puppy mill breeding dog. Miss Lucy is a beautiful ruby girl that is up to date on shots, heart worm negative, spayed, and has shiny white teeth after a recent dental. Lucy had a good check up with the vet, except for a loud heart murmur. We are waiting on a visit to the cardiologist soon to make sure Lucy will not need any medication and to grade her murmur.
Lucy is being fostered with 2 other cavaliers, 3 cats, and 2 human children, one of which is a toddler, and Lucy is just fine with them. Even though Lucy loves everyone in the house, deep down she is a mommy's girl, but we won't tell her foster dad!! Lucy would rather hug and snuggle than go for a jog, she would rather be with you than be alone, and she would rather curl up on your feet than play at the park. All in all, Lucy is a total couch potato. Since Lucy was a mill dog she can be shy with new people. It does take her time to warm up to strangers and will curl up in a quiet corner if things get overwhelming. Lucy is potty trained and working on her leash training. She is very possessive of her food. Even though Lucy has an issue or two she has a lot of love to give to the right family. Could that be you?
Lucy is being fostered in Colombus, OH. For more information -- only after completing an application -- contact kimberly_olive@hotmail.com.
