Sally is a beautiful 2 year old Black Cavalier-Poodle Mix (75% Cavalier 25% Poodle) who came from a puppy mill with her 5 month old puppy Aladdin(also available). She has the sweetest face and her eyes just beg "love me." She is VERY underweight. The vet says her nutrition at the puppy mill was not the best, then she was nursing her pups. As a result she is thin and anemic. She was spayed, had her teeth cleaned and is receiving an iron supplement. She gladly eats, but is afraid to eat if other more assertive dogs are around. With a little encouragement she quickly empties her bowl.  She is currently 14 pounds, but with food and attention she needs she will quickly get to the desired 16-18 pounds.  She has a sweet and gentle personality and is generally a pretty quiet girl. She has a calm demeanor but is not easily frightened by sudden noises and will run and play when other dogs are excited and barking.  She has a healthy appetite and is not food aggressive. The vet says she has some minor knee issues (from living her first 2 years in a cage) that make her squat a little funny to pee but don't affect her health or mobility. She is just learning how to play with toys and will run and play with other dogs. She is learning to walk on a leash and is learning quite quickly, she is so eager to please.

Sally showers her foster mom with affection and loves to be close to her people and enjoys sitting next to one and all during TV time.  She gladly sleeps in a crate and will "kennel up" when told.  She could be an only pet but could really benefit from a companion to teach her how to be a dog instead of just a mill mama who spends her life in a cage. She is learning to do her business outside and has mastered the doggie door.  She will readily go outside if taken out on a regular basis.  She has a strong need for human companionship and needs a home where someone is present most of the day or only gone for a few hours at a time. She will need a family with the time and patience necessary to work with her to learn to further trust people and new situations. She is great with the 6 year old human boy in her foster home. She will gladly snuggle with him or follow him outside to potty. He can sometimes get loud and excited about something which doesn't bother her one bit. She is eager to please, but has to learn to trust you first since her time with humans that are kind has been limited.
